In Bellingham when it snows and you don't have the time to drive up to Mount Baker, there are places you can take your children for some fun in the snow!

Head for the hills to the Sehome Hill Arboretum. It's a year around quiet and popular place to hike, but in the winter if/when it snows, it is also a safe place to let the kids play on their sleds! The Arboretum Drive is off of Bill McDonald Parkway near Western Washington University.

Whatcom Falls Park is a safe place also to take the kids for some snow fun! The tiny tots would enjoy sloping down the little hills by the playground. Mom and dad may even join in! Whatcom Falls Park is off of Lakeway Drive heading east.

Mom and Dad need some exercise and occupy the kids with some fun in the snow? You can pull them around Lake Padden on their sleds! Sure to get your excercise as well as complete fun for the little ones! Lake Padden is off of Samish Way heading south.

Head To Mount Baker For Ultimate Winter Activities!

Mount Baker is not only a world-class ski resort, but it is the locals personal playground year around! You can ski, cross-country ski, snow board, and for those who just want a great place to sleigh you can go to Heather Meadows!

Besides Mount Rainier, Mount Baker has the most volume of snow and ice out of all the other volcanoes in the Cascades! In 1999, Mount Baker was recorded as being the snowiest place in the world and set a new world record for snowfall in one single season, (95 feet).

This was during the La Nina cycle! And seven years later, after a drought that was brought on by El Nino, La Nina returned to give Mount Baker a new world record for the most snowfall EVER in one month!

This made locals very snow happy! (Who said it is "snow-fun" around here!?)

Bellingham has buses that go up to the mount during ski season. They have season passes and specials and they offer classes to those of us that "can't ski" but would like to learn!

The lifts range from around $30-$40. For more information about Mount Baker Ski the lift prices, season passes and upcoming events!
