Sand In The CityThe City of Subdued Excitement
This Sand in the City sand sculpting event in Bellingham, WA, where teams get together with tons of sand and compete for the "Golden Shovel Award". The teams are usually
employee's in certain companys, like, Comcast, Bellingham Cold Storage, and others.
I believe the sculpturer's have only 6 or so hours to complete their works of art on Saturday and then voting takes place as time goes on during the later end on Saturday and Sunday. Votes for your favorite sand sculptures are cast from on-lookers. You can even buy votes for a $1 per vote and put your token in a box next to the sculpture you want to win. (Kind of sounds like our politicians, doesn't it?) Anyway...
Meanwhile, there are food venues, a HUGE sandbox that the kids can play in and make their own masterpieces and, of course, live entertainment!
 As you can see, here, even I have my creative juices flowing! Ok...Or not!This sand sculpture event takes place at the Port of Bellingham in front of the Harbor Center Building on Roeder Avenue in August. Checking out the Sand in the City sculptures and hanging around the live entertainment and food is a lot of fun there! Who knows...you might get your "creative juices" flowing, too!
