Lummi IslandOf the San Juan IslandsLummi Island is one of over dozens of islands that make up the Puget Sound area of the San Juan Islands. It is the one we see over-looking Bellingham Bay from Bellingham, WA.
As we head for Lummi Island, you can see how calm the waters are! It was absolutely a perfect day to get out and do some exploring. We went over to the south and west of the island to start our exploring. We weren't the only ones out on the bay, of course. Many other boaters and sailors took advantage of the perfect weather. It takes us only around 5 or 10 minutes to get out to Lummi. About half way out I finally let my huband kick it in gear and zoomed on out because it's not really that far away. I just wanted to savor everything!
It took us awhile to get up to the northern part of Lummi Island. The waters were a bit more choppy for our small boat, so we decided to slow down and take our time. We weren't in a big hurry anyway.
If you don't have a boat and you want to visit the island, you take the Lummi Island Ferry. Click on the link and it will open a new window and you can find the ferry schedule's and updated rates information. As you can see from just our trip around Lummi, there are islands upon islands to explore...so we will go explore another island soon as the weather in Bellingham and time off from work both permit. Stay tuned and follow along with us on our island jumping journeys! Go back and explore more of the San Juan Islands Jump back to the top of Lummi Island.
