We don't have any camping in Bellingham anymore! There used to be Wildwood Resorts outside of Bellingham off of Lake Whatcom, but they are now promoting the selling of cottages. With this said the place to go not far from the city would be Larrabee State Park.
Bellingham does have an RV park with full hook-ups, pet friendly, within 15 minutes of shopping, showers, laundry and is open all year.
Easy access off of I-5 and only an hour from Vancouver, BC.

Just a few miles south on Chuckanut Drive is Larrabee State Park. This is Washington's first state park! It includes 8,100 feet of shoreline on Samish Bay, hiking trails, 2 freshwater lakes, 59 camp sites, 26 RV hook-ups, 67 picnic sites, boat ramps and is open year around! Beautiful sunsets over the bay and plenty of places for beach combing. You can call 360-676-2093 for more details and make your reservations!
Also, if you plan to make a journey up north into British Columbia, check out this Camping and RVing in British Columbia site! They will give you all the in's and out's of camping and rving in beautiful B.C. and they are just up the road from Bellingham, WA.
Down the road from Bellingham about 15 south off I-5 exit 236, is Thousand Trails Campground has private campsites and plenty of hiking trails, golfing, and just 1/4 mile away from the Skagit Valley Casino which offers a shuttle service. It's a little pricey, but the area is stunning and very peaceful! The address is: 5409 N. Dark Lane Bow, WA 98232 800-995-2101 for more information, or you can visit their website.... Thousand Trails Camping It will open into a new window.
My husband and I have taken our family on many outdoor expeditions over the years. We never failed to forget something at home that we needed. I didn't want anything like that happen to you so I put together a checklist for you! Call me a "perfectionist", call me what you will, but don't call me if you forgot something you needed on this list!!!
The tent! (Unless you are Rving, of course...)
Have fun!
