Billy McHale's In Bellingham-Nice For Family Dining

Billy McHale's Restaurant on Meridian is pretty cool spot to take the family. I don't consider it a "fine dining restaurant" but definitely a fine place to dine.
It's "busy" little atmosphere, stuff hanging on the walls, interesting to look at and a moving train that circles around the house is a great way to keep the kids entertained! If that's not enough, they even give the kids their own box of brand new crayons with their own menu on one side and activity page on the other.
Billy McHale's has a great menu...seafood, steaks, bar-b-que ribs (their specialty) and over 30 flavors to choose from for margarita's! The kids menu, too, gives them interesting choices to choose from, from drinks to eats as well.
I haven't ever seen anything on the menu priced over $18 and those are "big plate items" like steak AND shrimp. You can even select a couple different main items to make one plate from a list to choose from, like, steak, bacon wrapped shrimp, battered halibut, 1/2 rack of ribs.....it's really a pretty good deal!
My husband usually orders the bacon wrapped shrimp. I like the halibut fish-n-chips, but the other day I couldn't resist their famous bar-b-que ribs! They come complete with baked beans, baked spud, and corn bread! Oh! And they always bring a hot wet rag for those who order the ribs...Thanks! I needed that!
We took our grand daughter there after a long day crabbing...she still talks about Billy..."what's the last name?" McHales's!
We never have room for desert...but they do have a nice selection of deserts to choose from. Someday I'll have to leave room because they sure do look good!
Good cooking! Friendly staff! Been to Billy's many times and never been let down.
Oh, great restaurant to take someone for their birthday, too! The staff will come out and sing "Happy Birthday" in their own special way!
