Bellingham Youth Activities

The City of Subdued Excitement

I am impressed with all the Bellingham youth activities that are offered in town! It's really great, yes, but mostly...it's important to have things to do to keep the youth and littler ones busy.

As a parent of 3, now grown, children, I know the importance of keeping our youth involved with positive and productive activities. Here I will do my very best to bring it all together the programs that are offered for our children here in town so you can pick and choose the best ones for your children.

Here are a list of organizations that always have Bellingham youth activities. The links to their website's open into a new window.

Boy Scouts of American

Boys and Girls Club of Whatcom County

Bellingham-Campfire-USA

Check out Camp Fire USA, a non-denominational Bellingham youth organization centering around leadership and environmental education. The Samish Council Office is located off of Woburn Street and has loads of activities for kids and families. They have day camps, summer camps, community outreach youth activities and traditional small groups for children ages 3-18.

Girls Scouts

Whatcom YMCA

Big Sisters Big Brothers

Bellingham Parks and Recreation Department offers teen programs every year promoting teen volunteering. Stefanie Boyer, the coordinator of the program has lined up several trips for groups of kids to visit nonprofit organizations and a day camp for youth to learn about the many agencies in need of their volunteering services. This could be amongst the most popular of all Bellingham youth activities!

For more information about the upcoming programs check out the Bellingham Parks and Recreation website or call 676-6985. Volunteer groups of teens are scheduled to work with organizations including Habitat for Humanity, refugee assistance in Seattle, Lighthouse Mission, Common Threads Farm and Womencare Shelter.

These are all really fun programs to get your children involved in outside of school activities and help teach them good social habits as well! Some of the programs may even need your expertise to volunteer in Bellingham.
