Bellingham, Wa Ranks High on Economic Performance List

(Bellingham, WA USA)

The news today about Bellingham, WA ranking high on the economics performance list given by the Milken Institute was an interesting read.

According to their website, they ranked Bellingham, WA #8 (last year 2007 #14) for how well the city creates and sustains jobs and economic growth in the area.
This is pretty impressive when much of the nation struggles to keep up in the economic area.

Their site states, "This year's rankings of where America's jobs are being created and sustained shows the impact of a broad rebound in the technology sector, along with strong activity in exports and energy production.

Several metros that once dominated the rankings fell due to a sharp downturn in their housing and construction markets; locations in Florida and California took particularly sharp hits. Cities that depend on industry and manufacturing also continue to show a steady long-term decline. The lowest performers on this year's index once again come from the industrial Midwest, with nine of the lowest-ranked cities found in Michigan or Ohio."

That's quite interesting to know what the downfalls were and to be thankful to live and work in a city that keeps pushing forward. The results show this city to be on the right track!
