Bellingham, WA America's Parking Lot For 2010 Olympics?

(Bellingham, WA )

I ran across an article this weekend that really disturbed me from a Canadian news source.

Quoting from the news source, "No one actually sees it as their job to work out a common-sense system for people to leave their cars," Morrison said. "We want Americans to leave their cars in Bellingham, but how can they do that? Nobody is addressing that issue."

We barely have enough parking for our shoppers and workers as it is and the Canadians working on ironing things out for the 2010 Olympics wants "Bellingham, WA" to accommodate parking for "all Americans"? Do they realize that would literally grid-lock our streets?

In view of the economy, you do not welcome americans using B'ham as home base? Maybe you have a job but not all of us do. This would be a great "inconvenience" to have.

An "inconvenience" is not my stance. I think it's more of a challenge for the area and a great opportunity to promote the Bellingham area for the 2010 Winter Olympics. As for being "the parking lot" I'm not sure we're ready for that....yet. Ready or not, the traffic will come I'm sure.

It's not only a great idea, but a necessity!

Use our city! Use and abuse it! It will get recognition, some revenue, and maybe you haven't been up to Vancouver lately... but they NEED our help... traffic is crazy on a good day. I would be PROUD to lend any hand I could to our friendly neighbour to the north... spelled Canadian out of respect!!

Bringing in revenue isn't a bad idea. I truely hope we can get a boost from having the 2010 Olympics near. However, I also hope our law enforcements and border patrols are ready to help keep our beautiful city from abuses!
