Anthony's Hearthfire Grill

Anthony's Hearthfire Grill

Anthony's Hearthfire Grill

We took our family to Anthony's Hearthfire Grill for a holiday dinner. We had our daughter and her family up from Colorado..."picky eaters!" and my father-in-law from Nebraska, our oldest son and his family and our soon to be daughter in law from Bellingham.
This was our first visit to the Hearthfire Grill since it opened not too long ago. It is located beside the luxurious Hotel Bellwether on the beautiful Bellingham Bay.
Walking up to the restaurant was a fountain and a flaming fire to greet us! Inside we were greeted with a friendly hostess ready to accommodate us as soon as possible. The guys went to the bar to wait for our table. Us girls waited in front by the restrooms of course! Which, by the way, were awesome! Complete with a fire place to keep us warm and cozy!
Our table was ready for all 10 of us just as our reservation time came up. Everyone found something on the menu even our picky eaters could taste.
I can not remember what everyone had, but I a salad to start with crumbled blue cheese that was just out of this world for a salad! It was great with the dinner bread they brought us and the riesling we ordered. For the main course I had the mahi-mahi steak topped with a coconut and macadamia nut crust. It was soooo good....My husband had the tuna steak, my father in law ordered beef tips from the appetisers. My daughter ordered chicken off of the kids menu for our grandson Anthony and it was more like a small game hen! A huge portion for a 2 year old, but sweet! He loved it! Actually he was the only one who had room for desert! He got was seemed to be a special, perhaps homemade, a cherry chocolate chip kind of ice cream. Everyone tasted it and my daughter said it was her new favorite ice cream.
So all in all, it was a wonderful dining experience. The food and the service was really great! No one had any complaints and we all left happy...

I'd Rather Bar-B-Q

I can go to a grocery store and get steak and beer for way cheaper. The steaks are all over cooked or not cooked enough. Nice atmosphere, but that can only do so much. Long wait times and poor service.

Happy Hour and Bar
by: Anonymous

My wife and I regularly go tho the Hearthfire and just sit at the bar for dinner or go for what is definitely the best happy hour and bar in Bellingham.

Unlike the other Anthony's Seafood Restaurant next door, the Hearthfire is much more relaxing and far less noisy like a cafeteria, you have an amazing view from every seat at the bar and a really "cool' frosty rail to set your drink on.

The bartenders are a big reason we dine at the bar as our service experience in the dining room has been mixed. They are without doubt the most professional and experienced in town and besides just making great drinks often have us in stitches laughing. (Brian, Jeremy, Cory and a few others whose names elude me... Great JOB!!!

Downfall... so popular it's sometimes hard to get a seat so go early. Need a wheat beer on tap.

Upside... The bar serves the full menu so you can often avoid a lengthy wait for a table.

Most of the appetizers on the menu are only $4.75 for happy hour with draft beers, wine and some martinis also on special. No well drinks for happy hour (BUMMER) but the deal on food is incredible and more than makes up for it.

If you haven't been you're missing out.

Thumbs Up For the Happy Hour/Bar
by: Anonymous

My husband gives 2 thumbs up on the bar, too! He said to include the "frosted" bar! That part of the bar is chilled to help keep the drinks cold! Obviously I didn't notice. When we went there, 11 of us, we had to wait a bit even though we had reservations. The girls and kids and I waited in the lobby. The guys went to the bar!
My husband raved all night how good the margaritas were. By the time we got our table we really didn't need to pop open the wine! But we did...for me...
We really did have a great time and nice dining experience. Just had to ignore my husband a bit...thank goodness the boys could drive home!
BTW...anyone planning to go to the Hearthfire, I hope you didn't throw away the $25 gift certificate they sent out in the mail to residents this month! We'll be taking advantage of that this week with some friends coming up from the mid west. Hopefully I can keep my husband "away from the bar."
